Before I go further on that topic, here's a reminder of how the area looked when it was first built in ANGEL AND THE BADMAN days:
While we were in the area we spent a few minutes driving around photographing the street signs. They're not only fun to look at, but they provide a concise history of some of the many movies filmed in the area.
Here's a look at the signs we photographed in the Sedona West subdivision:
Close readers may note above that the movie title STATION WEST somehow morphed into Stations West as the street name.
There's another street in the neighborhood named Flaming Arrow, which intersects with Last Wagon, but as noted at this Sedona history website, no movie by that name was filmed anywhere in Sedona, so its inclusion is a bit of a mystery. Here are links for my reviews of most of the Westerns featured on these street signs: STATION WEST (1948) (also reviewed here), BROKEN ARROW (1950), COPPER CANYON (1950), PONY SOLDIER (1952), DRUM BEAT (1954), JOHNNY GUITAR (1954) (also reviewed here), SHOTGUN (1955), and THE LAST WAGON (1956).
Coming next, a look at Sedona locations seen in JOHNNY GUITAR.
