This has been a week filled with challenges, but then the weeks before right before the end of school are always busy and challenging. Challenging weeks are some of the best weeks to look for the good and express gratitude. I am thankful for bloggers like Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and Rebecca Jo at Knit by God's Hand for hosting link-ups to recount the positive things of the week. Here are some of the things I am thankful for this week.
Snail Mail Surprise - This week started out with a lovely snail mail surprise from my blogging friend, Faith, over at Gold in the Clouds. Faith sent me a wonderful, heartfelt letter, and a fun hiking sketchbook. I am thankful for wonderful blogging friends like Faith.
Interesting Bargain Books - Last year, I found a great little Christian publishing company that has interesting fiction and nonfiction books at bargain prices. I have made several orders from them, getting books to give as gifts and also to read myself. The publishing company also offers a coupon code that, in addition to great prices, gives 20-30% off of the final order amount. These books came in the mail this week and made my day a little brighter. I am looking forward to sharing a couple of these as gifts and also diving into some of the titles myself. I am always thankful for good books waiting on my "to read" shelf.
Cost of Living Raise - This week, our school district approved a nice cost of living raise for teachers, which will start in August when we go back for the new school year. I am thankful for another raise next school year.
Will and Living Trust Changes - We had to make some changes to our living trust this week. Planning for the future like this is never particularly fun, but I am thankful that we have a good estate planner we have been working with. He is accessible, responsive and understanding of our situation. I am grateful we have his help and expertise in this area.
Good New Recipe - I am always looking for good new recipes that are easy to fix when I get home from work. I tried this one for Asian Caramel Chicken which my blogging friend Mari featured on her blog a couple of week ago. Everyone in the family enjoyed it and leftovers were heartily eaten the next night (something that doesn't often happen at our home). I'm thankful to have another good, easy recipe to add to my cooking repertoire.
Walk with Charly - After a cool and wet spring, our temperatures warmed up and we had a few sunny days at the beginning of the week. It was nice to take an afternoon walk with my husband on a beautiful, spring day when the weather was just right. I am grateful for perfect spring days and walks with my husband.
Walk with Josh - Later in the evening of the same warm, sunny day when I walked with Charly (see above), Josh and I drove to another spot a few miles away and walked in another beautiful area. We had a good walk and a good conversation. I am thankful that Josh will still go for a walk with his mom.
That's all for this gratitude download. I hope that your week was a good one and that you also have a lot to be thankful for. Have a good weekend.
