Several filling stations do not have fuel at all and those that have, the queue waiting for it is endless.
Several reasons have been adduced for the scarcity of fuel.
The major marketers are said to no longer be interested  in importing fuel due to the erractic rise in the exchange rate of the dollar.
Other reasons proferred are the delay in payment of subsidy and rising interests on loans from financial institutions.
Some marketers who import fuel also said that import duties are demanded at the rate of 226 naira per dollar (black market rate) against the official rate of 195 naira per dollar.
Fuel scarcity in Nigeria has several implications; there is inadequate supply of electricity in the country as such many industries and private homes rely on generator for source of power.
With scarcity of fuel, many industries will find it difficult to operate effectively and in homes people will now live in darkness.
